During the evening of October 1st, a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), from a solar flare, impacted the earth's magnetosphere causing bright Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) across Canada and the northern half of the United States.

These images were taken near Whitewater, WI between 11 PM and 3 AM.

WOW, great pics, only wish we had known they were gracing our skyline. Last time we saw some Northern Lights here was about 10 yrs ago and they were nowhere near as vivid as what you saw.
What type of camera were you using to take these beautiful pictures???
